ParticipantHi all,
We’ve just moved house and the previous owner left behind her faulty washing machine so need to get a new one quite urgently!
We live in a flat (myself, husband and 4 year old) and would prefer a washer dryer (to avoid so much hanging off radiators!)
We would prefer to pay less, as we are on a budget, but could stretch to a little more if the machine is easy/cheap to repair!
We don’t do a great deal of washing, probably 2 loads a week. But the dryer would come in handy when I do a towel wash!Any suggestions on what to buy?
Thanks in advance.

Bosch first or zanussi
but avoid the cheapest models.
all Bosch models come with a 2 year guarentee and zanussi also includes tricity bendix, electrolux and AEG models as its the same companytotally avoid Bush, Haier and currys essential plus any other name thats not main stream

And avoid any washer dryer if at all possible. 😉 Also note that a lot of Zanussi machines are coming in from China. 🙁

I’ve never had much luck with washer dryers, the drying feature often seems to fail prematurely or doesn’t really help remove enough moisture and the clothes have to be hung over radiators/airers anyway.
I’d encourage you to consider a separate dryer if you can make the room for it.

Come on guys get real, they’re a young couple with a child in a flat. Most washer dryers will serve the purpose whether they come from China or Timbuktu. With low useage most will give a couple to 4 years use before its time to replace.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
We don’t have space for a separate dryer without it looking out of place in our kitchen. We have decided that a dishwasher would get more use than a dryer!
We had a washer dryer at our old rental property that i got on well with (apart from occasionally getting it wrong and cooking my clothes!!)However, for the time being, we have decided to go for a temporary fix of the old machine (hubby has an engineer mate who can fix it cheaply) which should give us a few months to raise some extra funds for a better machine, and in the meantime decide on just a washer or a washer dryer.
We have a launderette just 5 mins walk, so anything bulky we can take there.January 5, 2015 at 1:26 am #423225electrofix
