Indeed. Completely nuts!
That’s almost as bad as drilling holes in the cabinet to remove some slightly awkward bolts. 😯

You’re joking?….who would do such a thing :rotl:
By the by, did I ever tell you the story of the guy that drilled and bolted his w/machine to the kitchen wall because the floorboards wouldn’t stay still?

Not at all, twas many many years ago and a Bendix LTA was the machine. The guy installed rawlbolts into a concrete prefabricated wall and extended bolts that went through the sides of the machine and bolted at the front.
‘Tis true I swear! Just one of a thousand tales from an old codger like me 😉

Many years ago had a call to 95 series Hotpoint washer brand new vibrating, checked both top and bottom balance weight were removed cust had thrown them both away, he replied had a bit off a job getting the bottom one out the hole in the bottom had to use a hammer to get it out in bits, absolute nutter he was.

I think some folk are afraid of taking the belt off in case they can’t get it back on. I once got called to fit a belt for a chap who had tried and failed. He was gobsmacked when I had it on in a few seconds. 😆

What a brilliant idea, wish I’d thought of it!
I managed to do it once the way the “nutter” describes by tipping the m/c back 45 degrees (though there was no base to remove or it was plastic). Saved me having to disconnect short and difficult to re-install hoses to reach the back of the machine.
