Do wonder if they are a rip off of another insurer, going on what you have found out.
These guys sat in callcentres seem to see it as a quick buck.
Cant see where they have found the 25000 policies they are claiming?
Unfortunately if you get on board, it takes a few months to determine if you are safe with them or being taken for a ride.
The last ones to appear like this was buiztech and they have gone quiet on here…December 7, 2013 at 10:48 am #405704admin

TBH until there is more information and what with the recent formation if the business I’d avoid. Just politely decline saying that you cannot get credit insurance on the company.
As Bryan says it’s all too possible that this is just a reincarnation of that other mob and, it really wouldn’t surprise me.

For WTA members, there’s a bit more information here, in the WTA forum:
whitegoods-trade-association/maac-t80500.html
We were all out last night talking and decided to check this company out whilst doing something else.
If there’s enough interest I’m sure we could dig up information on other potential bad bets or scams as well.
For all those that do not have access to the WTA forum, the upshot of it is, get a very long bargepole and try not to touch.

Thanks Kenn and all concerned. I politely thanked them for the opportunity but declined. Its often said if you go against your better judgement. But its nice to have the info to endorse it.

I had an email from Paul at MAAC today it went as follows:
, we are MAAC LTD. We provide a warranty service to customers for kitchen appliances, audio and visual equipment and IT equipment for a monthly fee. We currently have over 25,000 active customers that we provide this service for and growing steadily. We are currently looking to work in partnership for the foreseeable future with appliance engineers who can complete requested repairs on our behalf.
Could you please provide details of the following:
(1) Postcodes that your company covers
(2) Appliance types and brands you cater for
(3) Average response time from the job being booked to completion
(4) If it turns out an appliance is BER can you request from us and not notify?
(5) Average turnaround for acquiring spares / parts not available from your engineer on the day of initial visit
(6) Contact telephone number and email address along with a main point of contact within your company that we should forward all repair requests too
(7) We would prefer to request a repair via email format, so that there is a constant papertrail, if you are happy with this, do you have a particular format you currently use. If not we can provide this information
(8) Invoicing terms and can you offer a cabinet fee for repairs carried out
(9) And finally could you provide costs, inc VAT for call outsVery Kind regards. We look forward to your response.

Contacted by them the other day, said we would only attend if payment by bacs is made upfront for the service fee and then to invoice for the part, and they paid straight away and our asking price at that. Will update after parts fitted and invoiced.

Had an email from these out of the blue today for a job in my area. They haven’t been in touch in any way at all before this so it was a bit of a surprise.
Just a mail saying “Its ***** from MAAC, I think this is the first job we have put through to you, would you be happy to complete the repair for us and invoice us directly (as discussed with ****). Here are the details:”
First port of call was to check up here as I was sure I’d heard of them before, then after that, just out of curiousity I thought I’d contact the customer.
He was decent chap and was thankful for someone actually contacting him as he’d been given the runaround for weeks now and was very fed up with it.
Anyway, after a chat he volunteered the information that his first contact was with a company called chilly something, which then passed him through to this MAAC lot.It was at that point I advised him that I wouldn’t be calling on him, which he took in good spirits really. He wouldn’t tell me whether he’d paid any money out, which sort of indicates he had.
I just hope he gets it all back, poor guy.But I thought the ‘Chilly’ connection was interesting.

I also have had the had an email from these out of the blue the a few weeks ago for a job in my area. Did the job as it was very local. I have still not been paid yet, its 3 weeks overdue. No parts involved though.
They are contacting me now to do more for them. Told them as I have an outstanding invoice I won’t do anything until its paid.
my advice is dont do anything for them unless you get paid up front. 🙁March 4, 2014 at 10:53 pm #405717fraggle
