Just come across magnetic water softner part number c00089789
Connect / Hotpoint. This one connects between hose and tap.
When I looked into them 20 years ago the opinion was they worked
On flowing water but not on stored water as in a tank.

It is a nonesense but a great sales aid so you might want to stock a whole bunch of them, the punters will snap them up! To believe it could stop limescale build-up on the heater and associated components is on par to believing in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy. But I don’t want to shatter anyones beliefs so judge for yourself. The ‘proof of the pudding’ and all that….
