    Paul,

Please do not bother sending us pictures of your microwave on account of the extreme danger for you simply taking off the outer case to access it. 😯

Microwave ovens store 1,000’s of volts in their capacitor even when switched off and unplugged, and tampering can easily prove fatal. :zap:

Please dispose of it carefully 😉

the microwave was scraped weeks back i do have the magnatron and photos. i do repair microwaves and washers dryers and pc’s and some fridges. but it amazes me how people can attempt to repair something so dangerous with no respect to the end user.

    Paul,
You always have the option of the local Trading Standards or H&SE. Here we try to operate to a code of practice – safety first. It is unfortunate that the appliance has been disposed of; the likelyhood of either of the agencies being able to act on “the remains” is slim.

    Next time…………..

Folks, and I do hope that this is read by a lot of people…

Microwaves are EXTREMELY dangerous things to tamper with and they are NOT for the DIY’r to be messing with in any way, shape or form. Even switched off and disconnected from the mains there is a capacitor in them that can hold a charge of up to 5000 Volts, this can KILL!!!

Touch the wrong two terminals and it’s night, night Sooty… permanently!

In fact, in the past they have killed. I can recall at least one poor engineer that was killed due to not discharging a capacitor correctly many years ago.

Do not mess with microwaves… period!

    K.
