    Guys,

I seem to be having a run of bad luck with tumble driers at the moment, maybe it’s because I lack experience with them???

Can anyone supply me with a service manual for the VTD00, I went to change a belt on one today and had limited success. Even with my shiny new belt fitting tool not managed it. The drum seems to drop onto the motor, almost as if there is not enough support from the casing.

Any advice and/or the manaul would be greatly appreciated.

    Mark,

    Whats the rear bearing like?

If that is sound and you have the front of the drum secure in the front surround then the drum cannot get anywhere near the motor.

Rear bearing failure is a common cause of snapped belts, that and the fact they are to damned tight to start with. :rolls:

    Thanks for the reply Jim,

From my experience the front of the drum sits nicely where it should, the bearing pads are seated correctly and when the drum is horiztonal it fits perfecty, however it appears that it doesn’t seat properly to the rear.I was hoping the manual may give me a photo of what I should be looking for in terms of the back bearing.

Sorry if that doesn’t answer your question,

    Mark

I always carry a couple of 1703080 V4 shaft & seal kits. You don’t always need all the parts but it will sort out most of the rear bearing problems on the vented and condensor dryers.

It sounds as though the rear bearing is goosed. Easy test, try and lift the top of the drum at the rear, if it flops up and down the bearing has gone, or just whip the small cap off the back and have a look.

    Jim.
