    Hi Folks

The washing machine is playing up, a common fault it seems. The dial turns when a wash is selected. I have checked the drain filter and there are no obstacles or blockages at all. If open the drain filter (let the water out) and then choose wash 8 which is a half hour wash it works if i then select another wash number straight afterwards it then works fine, essentialy i have to do two washes, if a gap is left between washes i get the spinning problem again ???

So does this indicate the pump is knackered ? if so where can i get a used pump from… or could it indicate another fault ?

Could be a partial blockage in one of the hoses to the pump, coins etc of a certain size can act like a valve and allow some water to pass then block up again, also check the hose under the sink for obstructions if it is connected direct into the waste pipe.

Don’t waste your time with a used pump, new one is not that expensive but make sure it is faulty first.

    Thanks Jim

I’ll pull it apart and check the pipes, the pump is working as it can be heard spinning, however how can i determine if it is working properly.

What i can’t work out is if i choose wash 1 for example, the dial spins.

if i choose wash 8 (half hour wash) it works, if i then try wash 1 straight afterwards it will then work.???

    cheers

This type of pump can fail intermittanly when it is worn. The only way to check is to remove pump and see if the impellor has excessive sideways movement or is noisy in operation.
