Margherita Filter Access

Hi
I have a Margherita, it wont drain.
I think the filter is jammed but when I go to check ….
I can undo the black filter chamber cover till it almost comes off but then it just won’t come out.
Its sits in the hole ,water can leak past the side but I cannot actually remove the cover.
It just looks like it should unscrew, am I doing something very stoopid ?

The filter is being jammed in place by the foreign object which has come down the sump hose into the filter chamber. Removeal of pump and stripping is the only option.

As I was tipping it onto its back to get at the pump, the obstruction came loose (a couple of drywall screws and my favourite disposable screw driver head).
