    Re: Market Research

Kevin, I am having a nightmare trying to get anyone to participate in the survey.

I’m probably not pushing this very well but I have had a very negative response when I ask for people to help out. It seems that people don’t like the thought of someone phoning them to ask questions. If I was asking them to fill in a form while I was there I don’t think there would be a problem. I have only one person willing to participate and five in a row that were positively against it!

It makes me wonder if you will be getting a true picture if the survey is only taken up by a particular type of person.

How are the rest of you guy’s getting on?

    Hello Bob,

I can’t speak for the rest of the team, as the completed forms go back to Kilmarnock and I don’t get to see them. However my 3 engineers do pretty good, but do report the odd complete failure to communicate.

I always ask a few questions of the customer regardless of what appliance I’m at. I find many quite chatty once I open them up with a couple of questions as to what powder/tablets/brand they use, once the interest is establish I introduce the MR question, it works well enough for me and my engineers.

We don’t do it with the fella’s, usually too negative and find 35 to 50 year olds most receptive.

I won’t mind being a bit more pushy, the point being that the survey may not be unbiased if only a particular type of person is willing to contribute.

Many years ago, a done a similar survey on behalf of a university student who needed to do a survey for their coursework. I had 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success when I asked my customers if they would be willing to answer a few questions. However, I seem to have hit a blank with the telephone survey.

    I’ll keep trying
