My patience and loyalty with a company I have dealt with since 1973 (yes since 1973) has convinced me not to continue any longer. Originally King and Robinson Ltd trading as Wash Vac Services, now aka Wolseley aka Parts Center or whatever bl**dy name the bankruptcy court will address them as when the time comes?

I’m shifting my modest spare parts supplier to MASTERPART for more reasons that I care to bother explaining right now.

Andy and the gang at Masterpart have put so much in place in recent times and must be revelling in the justifiable praise their company deserves from the trade.

All I want is access to spare parts, a company that has large stockholding at a fair price and can guarantee getting it to me ASAP…..therefore I choose Masterpart….

    …..and rest my case! 😉

    Re: Masterpart vs Parts Center?

They are certainly on the ball, I have just received a statement from Masterpart dated 01/11/05 , at the bottom it states invoices outstanding, ‘over 1 month’

the two invoices in question are dated 25/10/05 & 31/10/05 😆

They must have very short months in Essex.

Joking apart, I had a customer yesterday with a large family who was desparate to get her machine fixed. WMA10 with module fault. I would normally use QER or EMW and explained to her the options and the price/time difference. She insisted that speed was of the essence so I ordered the module online from Masterpart at 3.30PM yesterday and it was in my garage before 10.00 AM this morning.

    Excellent service.

Yep, I’m well impressed with Masterpart as well.

One very nice touch is you actually get a reply to your emails 😉

Just one thing to watch with Masterpart as I have had on 3 occasions lately stock availability stated Low or in stock but on delivery listed as back ordered. A quick e mail cancelled the back order though.

    Re: Masterpart vs Parts Center?

Reading the posts about Masterpart I’m beginning to wonder if things have improved since I stopped using them at the beginning of 2000.

Now reading Goosegreen’s post I’m not so sure.

Problem is, as a sole trader, when I order parts I phone and check price and availability. Having been told they have the parts ‘needed’, I make the order up with parts to replenish used stock in order to bring the value up for free delivery.
Problem is when the orders came through the parts ‘needed’ were out of stock. I then had to find an alternative supplier and incur the carriage charges as well as the extra delay caused through waiting for the delivery.
On top of this the parts that where not in stock, so cancelled, turn up 6 weeks later. Returning the unwanted items incur 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} restocking fee. Further to this if you ask for a part giving description and full details of the machine including part number/serial number. If the part supplied was wrong they expect you to return it at your expense and charge you 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} for the privilege.
I don’t mind paying a handling charge if my mistakes although 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} is a bit steep, but when it’s the suppliers fault, I object.

I agree, the prices are keen and stock holding high, so theoretically you can get all parts in one order. But when the parts do not materialise or are incorrect plus the hassle and expense trying to return them, the advantages are outweighed by the disadvantages.

We will of course look into the comments from Goosegreen, but with our stockholdings increasing all the time, these problems will happen less and less.

With regards, to the comments from Twoten, a lot changes in five years (Washvac is a perfect example) and during those five years we have made massive advances at Masterpart. Try us again, you wont be dissatisfied.

Twoten does have a very valid point here and is something all wholesalers really to need to address. 💡

I would have thought that by now technology would provide a clear and defining answer to stock levels. In as far as when one places an order for a whole list of spare parts, to be able then to not only be able to check the stock holding during the ‘basket filling process’ but the moment you wish to ‘checkout’ those stock levels are checked again to ensure they will be allocated the moment commit yourself to that order?

If that is not feasible then perhaps the moment the order is placed with the wholesaler, they then check the stock holding and email their customer advising of what will or will not be available???

    Re: Masterpart vs Parts Center?

not exactly but it was directed to the fact of ordering stuff to find it out of stock so i was menaing stocklink in its old guise at least, told you the likely hood of wether you would get it or not 🙂

No, no, Stocklink only ever gave a rough guide as to stock levels at the point when you downloaded an up-date, and even then it was way off target.

I was referring to a spot-on, point off sale, stock level system that can easily be put in place with modern software/warehouse control.

Masterpart are very close to solving that ideal as far as I can tell, and if not I am sure they are working on it as I type? 😉

true its depednant on how often an update was done which comes down to what connectivity you had to their server on how laborious or quick it was (they didnt have suffcicient bandwidth at one point and were using a sat uplink :/) but i beleive the new system shows actual stock rather than averaged days stock , and im not saying this is better than your system just making comment to the different systems in place it wasnt perfect to start with thats for sure but was a definite move forward in its time and did get better, if you ever used their viewdata system it was a massive leap lol
