    Drum dances about on spin assume the snubber ,been a long time since I did one .
    I seem to remember a special tool ?
    any one jog my memory

    yeh sounds like snubber indeed ….done many of these over the years and its not a bad job to do if you have space. 😀 😀

    is it as simple as releasing the tub from the springs and then the whole unit comes out like the speed queen

    You need the tool which holds off the 200lb brake spring, then its fairly easy. Sometimes you find one of the tub springs have broken

    thats it lawrence. done lots of these, never used the tool. just be careful loosening the screws, you’ll be fine.

    As alf said, you can do it loosening the screws. Crucial thing is if the pulley is still attached the brake spring cant go anywhere its only a problem when you take of the thrust bearing and pulley off. Then if you remove the brake spring housing the spring will go and you wont get it back without the brake spring removal tool.
