    hi,
    GC2227CDFB/16

this machine has a earth fault on it.
The evaporator defrost heater is faulty.
i disconnected the heater and wanted to check everything else is Ok on the machine before ordering the parts but the machine will not run.
Is this because the heater has been disconnected and there is a ‘monitoring’ circuit which stops the fridge from cutting in with the heater disconnected.
    Any advise will be appreciated.

    Re: maytag fridge fault

a lot of machines these days do a check of componebts before start up so it is possible

    can you either
A place the defost heater so it is not earthed
B disconnect earth of the whole appliance

this is for check purposes only i am in no way telling you leave the earth off the machine so it will work

i do the same on indesit washers when the earth fault in the motor causes problems

    hope this helps

i think we’re over complicating this one guys.
this appliance is a slightly older one from memory.
it will have a mechanical defrost timer which will be in the defrost position, hence when powered up it will trip and with the heater taken out of circuit it won’t run.
replace the heater and you should be ok.
the timer will be in the top of the fridge compartment on the right hand side.

    cheers.
