Maytag GC2227HEK5 fridge side not cooling and no lights but freezer side works and has lights.
    I have a Maytag side by side fridge/freezer. Model GC2227HEK5. Bought 2007.

Freezer seems to be ok… normal temp -18 deg C and lights working.

Fridge side is too warm. Around +11 degrees C. With no lights working ( all 3 bulbs checked and are ok). Temp alarm sounds. Door open alarm seems to work even though lights do not come on.

Not sure what to do?! Are there any fuses for fridge side only?

Have cleaned dust from bottom of grill at front. Also took off biggest rear panel at bottom on back … and cleaned.

Fans seem to be working. Air blowing from freezer into fridge seems ok. not blocked by food etc on either side.

If I use max cool… freezer cools more and fridge gets to maybe +8 degrees C.

the air not only has to blow into the fridge but out again. there will be a return tube

try a complete defrost, turn off , door open for 2 days

might not make you lights work but if its an ice blockage on the return tube it will clear it

Update on the lights. I removed the door switch and tested the wires for power. There is no power getting to the switch.

Any ideas where they go to from the switch?

Fridge now appears to have settled down. Did not defrost fully but added more food to fridge side so that both sides balanced.

Also used dehumidifier to reduce humidity – may have helped reduce icing?

Will defrost once good levels reduced.

Lights still not working. Will start fresh thread for that problem stand alone.
