ParticipantI have several customers with Mah14 maytag front loading washers, just recently I had one with a blown mother board, Maytag user manual states if all other components check ok then change the mother board. I checked motor, pump, water valve and door switch, all checked ok, I ordered a mother board list price £218 put it on and that flashed and blew as well, tech assistance at JLA say they have never come across this problem before but try changing the wax motor door switch list price £11 and put another mother board on and see how I get on, not wanting to lose another mother board I asked tech assistance what check I could make on the old wax motor door switch to prove it faulty and he said he did not know of one, asked if he had come across this problem before he said no, asked what happens if I blow the mother board again he just said I won’t, asked how he knew he said he just did.
I put new mother board on and new wax motor door switch and surprise surprise everything ok, What sort of design is this that there is no test that will prove a faulty £11 part will blow a £218 part. And why don;t Maytags only commercial agent know of this problem and how come he knew how to fix it. Could this be a design fault cover up? ANYONE else heard of it,May 25, 2005 at 12:56 pm #135810Lawrence

I have a Maytag stack washer and dryer with same problem ,JLA couldnt help ,The problem is that there is one guy at JLA who is ace ,surprise, surprise a feild engineer who has come of the road to train their engineers and tech staff, the rest are useless!!
I have blown a board in similar circumstances .also what exactly do they mean by wax Motor door switch ?

this was happening on maytag washers when i worked for jla back in the late 90’s , and is well recorded and known about ! their technical dept is now not worth bothering with since they ” lost ” the two technical bods that knew what they were doing .
the mah14 is the coin op version of the neptune, and share the same shortfalls 😥May 25, 2005 at 6:22 pm #135812max

thanks lawrence, for your information the part number for wax motor door switch is maytag 22002119 and I am told that the small component has solid wax that goes to liquid when energised then making the circuit but it seems fails then somehow blowing the mother board apart, I hope someone comes up with a preventitive measure as the bill I have sent to my customer is huge and there are quite a few of these maytag monsters on my patch that will cause a lot of grief for me and my customers when they get the bills

thanks chezza you are so right when I called JLA they gave me a real run around passing me from pillar to post and everyone saying they had not heard of the problem, when they must have done they sold thousands of these machines to the launderette and commercial laundry sector during the 90’s, hope someone has thought of a fix like an inline fuse between the wax motor switch and board or something, this is a very costly design fault
