ParticipantHi,
I have a Maytag GS2625GEKB Side by side fridge freezer roughly 4 years old, yesterday i noticed it was leaking.
On opening the freezer all items were defrosted and ice was melting.
I have removed the front bottom air vent on outside and hoovered out. As was dusty.
I have removed the outside bottom rear panels and hoovered out. As was dusty, there was no evidence of ice or water here.
I removed Mid/Lower panel at back of freezer and checked. No ice build up and also poured hot water down drain, which wasnt blocked.
I have now turned back on in the hope that it starts working again, as im currently at work till 11pm.
Is there anything else i can try or do before calling a engineer. 😥

nothing really, except to check that you have power there. this sounds like you need an engineer.
is there a noise from the appliance? does the compressor kick in when you open the fridge door?June 22, 2011 at 8:09 pm #354064louisg

Yes there’s power, the lights are still on inside.
Can’t say I have ever noticed the compresser as it’s such a quiet fridge freezer but I will listen out for it.

I can hear a buzzing sound, when I open door all I can hear is the fan.

sounds like engineer time.
use the facility on this site to get a company familiar with this make.

Had a engineer round he says due to a power surge it’s blown the main motor (compressor) roughly £230 to fix.
I’m just talking to my house insurance to see if they will pay for it?

if it’s the compressor then £230 isn’t a bad price at all. a power surge blown it though???
if it’s the pcb, then the part will be about £70 ish, obviously plus labour. -
