ParticipantWoke up this morning to a flooded kitchen as water was pouring out of the water filter head unit, I’m guessing the water shut-off valve is broken. Can anybody advise me where the shut-off valve is (i.e. is it in the head-unit or attached to the pipe that goes from the head unit to the base of the fridge), the head unit has two pipes one of which is the mains water in and the other goes from the head unit to the base of the fridge.
As I’m in rural France it’s not simple to “just call a repair man” so I’m going to have to try and fix it myself if I can identify what needs replacing.
Thanks…

Hi
Check the micro switch by the water dispenser for damp or sticking. Shut off will be behind the f/f or in the cupboard near it hopefully

Hi, thanks for the reply. The micro switch seems to be working OK as pressing the water pad it tries to dispense water (you can hear the pump trying to dispense) and shuts off OK when releasing. Turning the water on at the water isolation tap means that the water floods out of the filter head unit in the roof of the fridge so whatever is meant to shut off the water at the filter when the pump stops is not working. There does not appear to be an electrical connection to the filter head, just two water pipes one from the mains and one from the bottom of the fridge.

Hi, sounds like you may need a water filter head kit. This is the connection the water filter fits into and they can break off inside and start to leak. http://www.partadvantage.com/diagram/2/ … 88/680/900
Part required 67004659 if not available through UKW shop, then go to ukservica@maytag.com. The fittings can differ so check the water connection where the plumbing kit joins to take the initial water up to the filter. On this machine the filter is before any valve and at mains pressure permanently. -
