Meile G4210 drain or/and inlet issue

I’ve got an issue with a Miele G4210 dishwasher. About 3 years old

I select a program and set it going. After quite a short period of time the timer counts down a minute or two and stops, while the inlet/drain fault light starts to flash slowly. But I can hear humming and gurgling from inside. This goes on indefinitely, or for 5 minutes at least. There is no fault code showing on the display

I’ve had a look in the drain sump and there doesn’t seem to be a blockage. The inlet stopcock is definitely open.

Finally, I disconnected the drain hose from the sink plumbing and put the end in a bucket to see if it was actually draining. It was.

What seems to be happening is that it’s taking a small amount of water from the inlet, then pumping it out, over and over again, but never actually starting the wash program. I don’t think it’s taking enough water for a wash cycle anyway.

I’m at a loss. I’m *this* close to taking a deep breath and getting Miele in but before I do I’d like to know I’ve not overlooked something really simple.

Any ideas?

Sorry, I decided to start a new thread which you are already helping me on.
Just in case these were archived or something.
I shall add the link in case someone finds this thread instead.
It sounded similar. But, mine was doing more like twenty fills before it started draining.
This one, upon rereading it, seems like it was draining much more often than mine.
