meile T490 how do you get the heater off???

Hi, lads just been to a meile t/drier T490, found heater o/c. stripped out drum assy, down to removing heater. STUCK!. how do you get the heater off the drum shaft to loosen scews off the back plate.it wont budge. some sort of plastic cover over the shaft.dont want to force it. looks very breakable. 1st one i’ve had stripped down (still a virgin ha!).
