    Hi,

Newbie here after some advice from the experts, i have seen a used lincat built mercury cooker which appears structurally sound, works to temperature and seals seem fine but has some unsightly paint damage to two of the oven doors.

my question is can i take the skins off the front and have them resprayed? i know what i am doing to get a first class paint finish but not sure if or how easily the panels come off the front. The main panel looks fine so i thought i would respray all of the three doors.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Hi KK

The doors are enamelled so not just spray painted. Once removed they can be a pig to refit and align correctly also. How bad is the paintwork ?. You can order the outer skins also and as this cooker was approx 3K it would be worth spending a couple of hundred doing that the correct way rather than a botch up.

thanks for the info, two pretty wide flat scuffs across the front of two doors. Not sure if they would sand down and then refinish though as that would be a difficult task to match the original finish. it is in a colour they no longer do which bothered me a bit. not quite as easy as i thought / hoped…..

    Hi Ken

If it’s in good condition then why not change the control panel at the same time then you can get them all the same colour,The sides are stainless anyway and all the fronts are available as separate parts as they are not complete doors but sections of doors.

This cooker would have to be cheap to be worthwhile, licat are stopping supplying parts to AGA in the next two months so dont spend too much.
