have been using search facility for f08 flash fault code on merloni machines, pinned it down to

    heater check for insulation
check thermistor on heater and connector
cut back the wires somewhat first onto the heater and change connections.
    change pressure switch
    tight edge connections to board
    then change heater relay
    then change board

one post said to follow heater wires to board, it looks like one(brown) goes up to top of machine maybe to pressure switch, the other blue goes to single block connector on merloni board thats actually situated on the surface of the board (component side) not on the edge of board.(now it gets messy!) and their is 2 relays either side of this iv gone for the relay next to the very edge of the board by finding a track thats linked from the plug to any of the relays and seems only 1 relay is linked.(next to edge of board) can any 1 confim does this sound like the 1 to change?

iv got plenty merloni boards off machines iv scrapped now thing is, i bet my socks some have dodgy relays on board! so my next question is, is it only the heater relay that fails or can any, iv sourced the same relay from rs supplies from link from previous posts as well.

any other components on these boards worth changing or checking, iv in past changed eprom only(not with chop sticks with fingers as every time i bend the little buggers legs)
is it worth changing the eprom just certain f0 codes only cant remember is it f06? or f09?
hope iv not just opened a can of wiggly worms here

it would be nice sometime in future to have a comprehensive check list to be compiled for these machines, working top down with checks for exclusion maybe even a pc based software iv seen engineers miss a penny stuck in the pump before now due to flashing fault codes.

Once removed from the board you can test these relays using a car battery and your meter or some other continuity tester. The coil part can be initially checked for resistance to make sure it’s not burnt out. If thats OK connect your continuity tester to the other 2 terminals and your car battery to the coil terminals. If the relay contacts are burnt they may still register a good short circuit on your ohm meter but this may break down under load. This is why I mentioned an alternative continuity tester, something requiring more current, such as a bulb. Obviously a selection of crocodile clip leads is handy for such tests.

I admire your resolve in trying to suss out F08 errors on these machines. Much has been said over the years, many have resorted to faffing around with relays and stuff from RS and such like.

The mystery surrounding the module board and those infernal eeproms has got us all scratching our heads and drawing blood in the process. :rolls:

The only true solution to any suspect Indesit module board is to consult EMW Ltd, send your suspect board the them and for a fraction of the agro in guessing what the problem is, they can test the board and report back. The cost is nominal, the time taken to do that, minimal. 😉

Car batteries, soldering irons and trips to the local Maplins store for a relay that might just fit can cure the odd module fault. But sweet cheeses guys, why bother TBH?

It’s an Indesit ‘weegie board’ after all we’re talking about here. Cheap tacky heap of shoosh that either works or it don’t. And not worth too much of your precious time (and time is money after all!) in pondering over a possible sticky relay or maybe it’s the eeprom or the ‘cod & chips board’ has got corrupted?….WTF?

I put it to you……give the guys at EMW a bell the only solution! 😀

P.S On the subject of the Pressure Switch, Tony at EMW always advises changing them anyway in cases like this, so there. 8)

In good times when there’s plenty of work I would agree with you entirely, Martin. At the moment, many of us don’t have enough work so we can have a go at these things to fill up the spare time and hopefully save a bit of money. It is also quite satisfying to do proper repairs rather than just putting in a replacement major assembly. Once or twice I’ve ordered a replacement module from EMW without looking properly at the old board then been dismayed to see the problem was a simple dry joint, easily rectified with a blob of solder. There are also a lot of boards that EMW won’t touch…..

    F08
What is it good for? Abso….
Let’s all move (back) to Hampshire for an easy life! 😆
    PS. A door bell battery
    ebay
will power the coil on a Merloni relay.
    Mike.
