    Hello to all,

I am after some advice, i have a Diplomat ADP8224 which has recently started emitting a burning smell and smoke from the top of the door catch. Today i had time to dismantle the front panel to check connections and to find where the burning was coming from, upon inspection i have found that the main program pcb has one scorched terminal which connects to the door latch micro switch.

I’m unsure as to why the damage has happened and would like some help as to what component to look for. I have an electrical background so i’m comfortable with the testing etc..

The dishwasher completes its cycle normally but with the smell of burning and smoke appearing from the door latch.

Could it be that there was a dry solder joint on that connection on the pcb allowing arcing to occur? Is the relay faulty?

I’ve attached photos of the PCB.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice. 🙂

that the heater relay so the wires will carry 6 to 8 amps. will be the wires burnt out

from the look of the board you have 2 option

    1 new board
2 solder 2 short peices of heavy wire ( heavy enough to take 15 amps to be sure.) solder these wires directly to the relay contacts

then cut the old wires back to clean wire and joint them safely off the board to the new pieces

You’ll have to clean the carbon off the board after repair or chances are the terminals will arch to each other (short!), in fact i’m not sure if that isn’t already happening.
