Hi, I bought one of these integrated fridge/freezers from MFI about 3 years ago and it’s been nothing but trouble. It broke a couple of times in warranty and quite a few times after the warranty expired. The most common problem is the freezer not freezing. From reading the forums here this seems to be commonly caused by ice buildup. I now live in overseas and rent the apartment, but I’ve asked the tenants to defrost the unit for 48hrs to see if that fixes the problem. They tell me that it comes good for a few days, then the freezer stops freezing again.
Apart from calling an engineer (again) is there anything else which I could try to stop this happening?
My current tenants and I am sick to death of getting it repaired so if there’s no other simple fix, I’m gonna bite the bullet and buy a new unit. I don’t want to get another lemon like this one has turned out to be, so can anyone recommend a nice simple 50/50 integrated fridge/freezer with no electronic bells and whistles to go wrong, that might last more than 12 months without a service visit?
I’m so disheartened by this experience I’m even considering taking out an extended warranty with the product – something I thought I’d never do! 😯

For a defrost to only last 2 days it indicates a system fault. Mostly repairable, definately possible to diagnose with an engineers visit. try our repairs@ module to see if we have a repairer near you.
If you want a new one try CDA, it will come with a free 5 year part warranty with 12 months labour.
