There are two others that I know of ,did you notice that they want to carry on under the existing terms etc ,now correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t our SLA with the previous company that are now in liquidation .
They talk about the new company well then that means that it is a whole new playing field as well as far as I am concerned .
The only way I will work for them is £65 labour and 14 day payment terms ….if at all ,the bottom line is I just don’t trust them.
apparently Mark Ridler is phoning round trying to smooth ruffled feathers ,with no success I hasten to add.Lawrence

KeymasterAs I said the other day, don’t get angry, bitter and twisted.
Get angry, bitter, twisted and even. 😉
The ball is in the agents court. MFI need the service, we can provide it… at a suitable rate of course. You run a business, not a charity and not a social club, you have to make money and use the situations presented to your best advantage.

The situation is that it is going to be very unlikely that any of the agents will receive any payments at all for work done before 30th Sept, I am seeing my advisors on Monday and they are very interested in the fact I have 2 batches of invoices that were accepted by MFI for payment on the 14th August, these should have been paid within 30 days of that acceptance note, so there is a possibilty payments were deliberatly witheld until they went into administration, check to see if any of you have had a an acceptance note for payment.
If this can be proven we might have a case for those invoices to be paid, I’m not holding out much hope but its worth a try, my reply letter has been sent to Kroll by registered post informing them that I will not be paying the parts invoices and they contra that off what I am owed, and a copy of all the invoices due has been sent to MFI by courier.
As far as working for them again there is no question MFI will still need this network of agents, where else are they going to go to replace us, but I am the same as Lawrence they need to earn our trust, this is exactly the situation that WTA was set up for, if we all stay together on this we can negotiate our own terms with them, I agree with Lawrence a rate more suitable for the type of work and travelling involved would be around £65 a call, at this moment in time I have them on complete stop they have no computer systems working at the moment and I cannot see any point in negotiating with them until they are up and running their service department fully.
I for one will find it hard to replace 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of my work so I am prepared to negotiate a new deal on our terms in time, our loss is going to be extreme to say the least but getting angry wont help, getting even is a much better way.
Sorry about the length of this post.

A question …
Do members want the WTA to represent them to MFI Newco as one entity ,
Stating new rates ,terms etc
If the answer is yes then we need to know who wants to be represented ,if you know someone who hasn’t posted and should be asked the question please point them in the direction of this thread .
Also what rate do people regard as fair ,bear in mind that this is a whole new ball game ,a new company that we are doing work for who have only 40 engineers covering the whole of the uk -they need us .opinions, viewpoints please

Count me in Lawrence, the more of us the better, start high at £65 they will try and knock us down, definately 14 days for a minimum of six motnhs or until they can prove to be trusted.

ParticipantIs it long term work though ! If they have shut stores in your area there is no point carrying on in my opinion. I would be more interested in working with D&G and AIG directly.

Thats a thought that crossed my mind .I am trying to see if the D&G work can come direct to the agents ,I imagine AIG would want call handling etc .

I agree with Flipper, they have closed 2 of the 3 stores in my area, and they have their own engineer that covers Weston S Mare, Taunton & Bridgwater, the 3 most populated areas, and next to the motorway. All we get from them is the remote areas, so there is no point in me taking them back on board.
Also I read somewhere in here about the Christmas build up, and sure enough they won’t sell many new kitchens before the January sales, and they will need all the revenue they can get now!
There is no way we will do a call for them at present, and I doubt if ever again. I am however encouraged by Jonah’s posting regards where they indicated they were paying some time ago, yet the money failed to hit the bank. I’m hoping that we can contra the lot, and then I’ll take the losses, but in reality that will not happen.
Sorry if was taking this away from the ethos of the Trade Association, as that is what this section is about.
Can we as a group work collectively, and us being an association be able to perhaps seek advice and see if there is anything that can be done to mitigate our loss? In particular regards our purchases and if indeed we are only liable for goods received after the involvement of Kroll as from 06/10

Count us in as well…
We just pragmatically want to recover as much money that’s owed to us as we reasonably can by whatever means.
If the TA manages to pull off a negotiated deal to continue to provide service cover then we would certainly consider it, and that would be a big feather in the cap for the TA too!
