have been asked to fit fan motor to a built in bosch combo oven microwave. I declined the job as I have no microwave knowledge and no test equipment ( emissions etc )
just for the record what’s the position legally regarding microwaves. most domestics microwaves are now so cheap you wouldnt usually put a screwdriver to one

    Hi

No legality or regulations. Always discharge the capacitor and your’ll be fine. For a leakage to actually occur it would need a gap of a 2p piece .

    Re: microwaves

fitting a fan to a microwave will never cause any leakage. the fan is outside the microwaves protected behind a wall full of holes. you should always check this wall is intact and no rusting has occurred to make the holes bigger and allow leakage.
apart from that its a question of taking it apart fitting the fan and re-assembly.

do quite a few microwaves and the bosh ones are great as the microwave section is Panasonic built on the later ones which means you can pay Panasonic prices for parts not Bosch. just did one the other day and did complete repair for less than the parts from Bosch

And there’s some of those combo built ins that are worth a small fortune so worth repairing, well worth it in some cases so can be good business.
