ParticipantI thought I’d posted some time ago, asking for recommendations, but can’t find the post now. Anyway, on looking at our finances again, I realize we can’t afford a Miele, much to my disappointment. We really need something nearer the £300-400 mark. Could you recommend a make that’s best value for money in this range? I don’t want whizzy extras, just a bog standard machine that rinses very well. Low spin speed doesn’t matter either, as it’s windy & warm where I live so things dry quickly outside most of the year. Sorry to keep asking for advice but I’d be grateful for any recommendations – whatever we manage to buy will have to last!

The answer lies right above this thread, the ISE is what you need. 8) but if you live outside of the UK 😉 then mid range Bosch or Seimens would be OK. Do you intend to buy it in Greece or ship it in from outside.
Here is your original thread.

Thanks, Jim. We’ll buy from a local shop. Costs are very high compared to UK & we’re too remote for online shopping here (they may deliver on the mainland, but certainly not in the islands) unfortunately, but it’s still cheaper than buying in the UK & shipping it out.

I would guess that spares & repairs may also be a problem then, might be an idea to ask around to check on various manufacturers supply lines.
No point buying a mid range machine that you cannot get parts for easily.
Depending on how the communication is with the ‘local shop’ it might be a good idea to have a word with them to give you some idea of the back up for Bosch/Seimens spares. Mid range Zanussi or Whirpool could be your next best bet.

Good advice, Jim. Thanks. Sales assistants here are not generally very forthcoming with hard info (or perhaps it’s just because I’m female, & attitudes in the backwoods are still rather sexist) but I’ll try.

Sales assistants at the big sheds here, with the odd exception are no better 😥 , a small local independent would be ideal if you can find one.
