Participanthi there,
Last evening i purchased a Miele prestige plus from my local Comet store when asked would i like to take out an extended warranty at £95 i pointed out that there was a 5 yr parts and labour warranty with the miele to which the sales person replied you have to pay a callout charge of £100 to miele and then promptly waivered the £95 charge for the Comet warranty, the warranty with Comet being 3 years parts labour and no callout charge, so they are giving me a warranty for nothing what are Comet gaining and am i losing out? the salesperson told me i cant fill in the service warranty form which will be delivered with the appliance tomorrow.
best regards to all

Hi
Its got a free 5 year parts and labour warranty from Miele so why take out a 3 year warranty with Comet, the sales person was talking a load of rubbish .
The Miele Warranty means no repair bills for breakdowns for 5 years, or call outs.

Thanks for the reply Washman,
i will investigate this further I really can not see what Comet are gaining by giving me the cover the only thing is , was it the “end of the sales quarter”? yesterday being the 30 june and was somthing to do with warranty sales targets? perhaps ill contact Miele and see what they have to say.
best regards to all

hi there
just to update on my post, i have contacted Miele about this matter of being “given” a three year free warranty by Comet and told not register for my five year free parts labour and callout warranty the very nice person at Miele told me that it was probably due to their quarterly target for warranty sales , but they waivered the cost. i was concerned that the the warranty on my reciept for the wasing machine might cause a problem when sent to Miele to claim 5yrs free warranty but no probs i really cant praise the Miele customer service person enough .
the 5 year gaurantee can also be extended to 10 years parts labour and callout for £199 any thoughts on this offer before i go ahead?
best regards to all

Mark(thriftyguy)Comet market their warranties one way, Miele another way 😉 for £199 for five years peace of mind is good value when you consider the call out charge circa £99 and the expensive price of parts. Having said that though you would expect that a product of that ilk and price shouldn`t need to have that level of protection.
At the end of the day it all comes down to “what price do you put on peace of mind”.

I assume if bought from places like pixmania, tribal uk and other online only type retailers then you wouldn’t be able to get the free 5 year warranty as not authorised sellers. Is this correct?
How would you find out if they are?

Hi
Normally it`s only the bricks and mortar authorised dealers who are able to offer the extended warranties.
Miele marketing should be able to clarify to on 01235 554455 .
