Miele – 7kg versus 8kg capacity

Relative needs a new washing machine.
She tried my Miele out & can’t believe the cleaning power & overall performance. I swear by Miele. I’ve had several brands over the years & nothing compares. So she wants a Miele!

The Miele drum is one size for 7kg & 8kg machines. We measured the internal space of both machines in showroom.

So how do the machines advertised as 7kg & 8kg differentiate in drum capacity, despite having exactly the same drum size?

7kg is cheaper….

Looking very closely at the product data sheets and general performance specifications between the two there is very little difference between them. In fact it would appear that they are virtually identical. 😕

Overall annual water consumption and electricity consumption seem a little contradictory between the two models also. But then EU data fluctuations are like their currency I suspect.

I have come to the conclusion that there is little or no difference between them other than model number and quoted capacity. Perhaps it’s a simple sales ploy for those that have previously had a 7kg capacity washer and might want to replace it with another? Or maybe are now tempted to upgrade in load size and buy the 8kg version for just 50quid more? Or to quote Miele, the choice is ‘immer besser’ 😉

Think you are right, sales ploy….
I fell for it & insisted on the 8kg model…..

I’m looking to replace my tumble dryer soon. Will be measuring the drums!
