Miele – are they worth the premium?

Hello one and all. I am just in the process of purchasing a new kitchen and presently looking at integrated appliances. I have priced up roughly equivalent appliances from both Neff and Miele, and was shocked to discover the price premium on Miele products – sometimes costing up to double the Neff equivalent!

My question is therefore a simple one – are they really worth this premium? Are they better to operate, more reliable / efficient / quieter?

Your thoughts / comments would be much appreciated. My family have always sworn by Miele but I am struggling to justify the additional expense as I gather Neff are, on the whole, pretty good.

P.S. On a separate note – struggling to find a fully integrated condensing tumble dryer – any ideas?

The upside is Miele appliances are built to a very high standard. They have a longer life expectancy than other products currently in the market place due to the quality of components used and the build factor is excellent.

The downside is when it comes to spares and repairs. Service information is restricted to their own service centres and as such they will not divulge any service information to the independant repairers. You will also have to contend with much higher prices for replacement spare parts as well.

Bosch, Neff and Siemens or BSH group as they are known currently account for approx 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the total build in market. Personally I am a Neff fan, they have an excellent range of well made high speced products at a reasonable price and a full two year warranty which incidentally the same as the Miele.

Bosch Neff were the last to produce a fully integrated condenser about five or so years ago. Miele currently only produce semi integrated ones. You may have to compromise on a vented one which will also be more reliable.

Miele are currently ‘giving away’ 10 year warranties on selected machines. I would suggest the 10,000 hour limit reduces this to more like 7 years, but it’s still a good offer.
