Hi, Bryan,
Your wife sounds like a lovely lady. areal woman 😉what sort of Mole grips does she have? Those pointy-nose “Vise-Grip” ones are absoloutely fantastic!..-If you should, perchance, get nipped by a pair of those, the pain is exquisite!
Now, about your Washer…..Ido hope you haven’t continued to use it in it’s squealing, smoking state…you can’t expect the manufacturer to rectify the results of abuse, you know.
I know you are hoping for a new machine, but I think it’s going to be “tough Cheddar” where that’s concerned, old fruit.
you see, contrary to popular opinion, machines wear and age. A bit like granny needing a new hip , so the machine needs a new belt.
Putting it another way, does your wife still wear the same bra as when you married her? do you wear the same underpants???
NO! because they stretch and lose their elasticuty,as does a drive-belt.
Now, if your underwear were to try twirling about 10 pounds of soggy laundry,at over a thousand revs a minute…(that reminds me of the gay bishop 😳 ) I think it would do a lot more protesting than the “squeal ” you got from the Miele belt..
When the regional Manager turns up, I’d suggest a nice cup of tea and a slice of “space cake” -my kids tell me you have to bake these yourself,as they are made with a special herb which can be readily obtained, though it’s not actually on sale legally (bit like 16-year old’s buying booze, really)
Anyway, if you or the lovely Mrs. Bryan, bakes a tasty cake and offers a goodly slice to Mr. Manager, he will have to accept it(cos he’s a guest and it would be very rude to refuse)
A short while after he’s had the refreshments, you should notice the gent is a lot more amenable….NOW is the time to approach the problem you have!
I am told that these cakes have a wonderful soothing, mellowing effect on those who partake of them. I must stress that it’s only heresay.
I do hope you get your problem resolved, then we can ,perhaps, cogitate on other matters.
do keep us posted!May 18, 2008 at 3:59 pm #248649adamhornsby

“I Love You, Alice B. Toklas” is probably a good place to start.

Wee note to remember when replacing Miele belts, some machines use special belts with “conductive rubber” in them.
Serious!
They will give problems with electronics if genuine belt is not replaced.June 18, 2008 at 9:39 am #248653iadom

Been the same for Hotpoint belts and several others for some years now.
look for the letter E or MAEL on the belt.
