ParticipantI purchased the above Vacuum cleaner from Ebay it was defective when I purchased it ( advertised as defective) I repaired the original fault which consisted of the reel cassette cables had been torn away from their respective termination points. The cleaner works on full power, so for most people that would be good enough. The cleaner has variable suction/power settings, the vacuum cleaner had clearly short circuited as the fuse had blown I believe that this has caused the Triac attached to the motor to have failed in the closed position hence it working on full power. I examined the triac expecting one of the legs to have been blown off but that’s not the case and all looks well. I have discounted the speed control circuit by way of substitution no change there. Unfortunately I cannot read the details on the Triac to determine exactly what type it is. Does anyone have any idea as to what Triac is used in this machine? I am aware I can put another motor in from a donor machine. I would like to replace the triac with a suitable substitute if anyone knows of an alternative triac?
Thanks
Ben

ParticipantTo be honest my eyes are not as good as they were. I photographed it but the camera could not read it. I have put it back together at the moment as it works fine. I am about to order new bearing and when they arrive I will dismantle it and have another read of it.
Thanks

ParticipantI might have to invest in a new magnifying glass as the one I used didn’t make it any more legible.

ParticipantI got hold of a better magnifying glass and I was able to read the Triac, turns out it is a BTB16-600BW . I have ordered one online so I will wait and see if it repairs it. I repacked the bearings with grease and they seem fine now,

ParticipantHi
I got hold of a triac and de soldered the old one and resoldered in the new one. I cleaned out the motor with compressed air, and installed new bearings although the old ones after being packed with grease appeared to be fine. The vacuum cleaner now runs like new with original Miele bag and filters installed.Ben
