Miele CVA620 Coffee Machine

Don’t know anything about these, but a friend of mine has asked me to have a look at his. He says although the water container is full, it keeps coming up with water empty. Any one know what I should be looking for on this before I go please?

Water float sticking on the tank or lever jammed

Float has a magnet in it which can get weak and fail to operate the reeds switch.
Remove the tank and place a standard magnet in the position of the float and see if the alarm turns off.
Float is standard Saeco Gaggia part and available on its own.
