When initially filling and again about an hour later (I’m guessing when the rinse cycle starts) , the dishwasher makes a banging noise. The flowing sound of water stops suddenly like a “glottal stop” making a kind of banging noise and the red Inlet / Drain warning lamp is illuminated. Having experienced water hammer 20 years ago in my previous house, I do not it’s that. The machine is downstairs and I can hear it loudly when I’m upstairs, trying to sleep.

This happens perhaps a 10-20 times as the machine tries to overcome the problem and then it usually carries on, seemingly ok. Although sometimes I feel the the wash cycle hasn’t finished because the crockery has not been rinsed 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} properly. When it appears that the machine has finished, the red inlet/drain light remains flashing with nothing else happening. But the dishwasher tablet door has opened and there is never any residual soap, powder or water in the machine when the cycle finishes (or appears to finish).

I’ve removed and cleaned all filters and bits. I’ve cleaned the Non-Return valve and the ball- bearing inside that looks pristine. I’ve made sure the water valve on the copper pipe that the inlet hose joins onto is fully open. I’ve checked the inlet hose to ensure there are no kinks.

I’m thinking the problem is the inlet valve – that is the Aquavalve (the size of a large bar of soap) built into Miele’s (£100+) Aquastop inlet hose.

So any tips would be appreciated on:

    1. 1. does this sound like a new hose with inbuilt inlet vale is the next thing to try. I can see a generic replacement on ******2**.com for about half the OEM price.
    2. 2. if so, how do I disconnect the Miele Aquastop inlet hose from the machine. Do I remove the baseplate, or side plates, or both and do I marmalise a one-time-use-only hose clip then replace the new hose using a jubilee clip ?

    Video attached, Thanks

you have to remove the base plate and hook the hose directly in along with the electrics

hose assume you mean this one

Dave, yes indeed and thank you. As a guess only, do you think it is likely that a faulty “hose” is the cause of my problem. The valve inside the hose (inside a large bar-of-soap shaped plastic cover) doesn’t seen to indicate any obvious signs of problems – no noise or heat for example. Maybe I’ll just replace it anyway, if only to eliminate the possibility.

the only way of being certain is either change it or test it off the machine

PROBLEM SOLVED: Using the UKWhitegoods’ “Search for an engineer” function, I rang a chap, based in London E16, yesterday. He came later the same day, spending about an hour fixing the problem. My dishwasher now works perfectly. No replacement parts were required – so I didn’t waste money on replacing something that turned out to be OK. The engineer said the issue was due to:

    – a digital sensor needed cleaning re-setting and
    – the front water level was incorrect

Previously I’d not heard of these as possible faults but, whatever, I am very pleased to have a fully functional, super quiet, machine.
