Participanthi..i am hoping you can help me diagnose which part i need…the machine is flooding in the base…after taking the side panel off i can see that after starting a cycle , pressure is building in the large plastic salts container until the rubber pipe going from the base of the salt unit to the bottom of the water matrix comes off — pouring water straight into the base.!! any suggestions would be much appreciated..thank you…john

hi….just to clarify…it’s as if the water cannot flow from the water matrix through the water softener part of the plastic salts container into the tub! the softener plastic bulges under the pressure until the rubber pipe comes off the bottom…. hope this is clearer and somebody can help me…thanks….john

Not entirely sure of the water path layout of this particular one, but they are mostly similar.
On the side of the dishwasher theres a fill matrix that the water comes in to.
On the very top of this matrix on some dishwashers theres a little ball valve that may be stuck. There is also a solenoid valve on the side of some of them.
Water intake from WaterProof inlet hose should be connected to outside connection on matrix, it goes through a flowmeter on through solenoid valve on matrix & up to ball valve at top.
If the salt container is bulging it is likely the hose from exit of softener is blocked.
Perhaps the lid of salt container has been left off & contaminants have gotten in, the exit from salt container is a hose on the top of the container from memory and the water mains intake to it is to bottom.
Check sump of dishwasher where hose from salt resevoir comes in for blockages too.January 29, 2014 at 8:55 pm #408444patchitos

hi Seamy. thank you for your reply.what i have done is replace the salts container with the solenoid valve and the little chip on the front..this has cured the problem..therefore i assume the water matrix, including the flow meter and solenoid valve are all ok..the waterproof inlet hose is indeed on the outside – it is the rubber hose next to it that is forced off – goes from matrix to bottom of salts container ..i will double check the softener exit hose is not blocked…could it be the solenoid valve on the side of the salts container that is faulty? The water matrix does not fill-it is as if water is entering the matrix, going straight into the bottom of the salts container and pretty quickly blowing the tube off because the water has nowhere else to go…thank you very much for your help..john

Water even if going into salt container (softener) should still go through the matrix I thought as its measured by the flowmeter thats attached on the matrix.
You may not see the matrix fill up as such but the water should go through it en route to the salt container. Even if no salt level is set for regeneration by the machine it always by default lets in water (approx 1 litre) through the salt container to keep it from going mouldy etc.Water flows through the water channel, to the water mixer outlet and then to the water softener. After passing through the water softener, the now soft water flows via the soft water intake, back into the water inlet mixer (matrix). It then flows past the non-return device, into the sump.
So I would check sump, also try the old salt container that you have removed for blockages. -
