ModeratorCan anyone explain how the dump valve motor works on a MieleWS5427.
The alloy handle/ cable actuator has broken off but as far as I can tell, this motor runs continuosly when on spin or drain. Surely, if I fit a new handle, this too will break. What stops the motor when the valve is fully open. I dont see too many of these so I just dont know.

hi mark, if it is the same as the one we use offshore the motor is timed by the main board, but dont ask any one at the miele coz they dont have a clue.

Just to conclude this thread, I today fitted a new valve motor handle and held my breath waiting for it to break, but it didnt. It really does seem that the motor jams itself up as the handle hits against its stop until the reverse gears kick in. Its an odd system and I guess if you have not seen one none of this makes sense.
Another thing, I tested this on the ‘sluice cycle’ but then had a scare as I couldnt cancel the prog once started, even turning off at the mains wouldnt do it and I really thought I had a pcb problem but I luckily found the instruction book (this machine is in a nut house) and discovered that this is the ONLY programme that cannot be stopped or advanced once started as “per government health department guidlines!” Trust me to choose that one.February 9, 2005 at 3:09 pm #124857bassman

Hi I repair quite a few of these the dump valve motor does not switch off it is not powerfull enough to break the lever it just stops turning when the lever reaches the stop and you are right about the sluice program once started it cannot be stopped even turning the machine of it will revert to the same prgram when switched back on. Also the gearbox’s in the dump valve strip gears about the same time as levers breaking so you may get another call.

Thanks for the warning, fingers crossed it will last a bit longer so I can charge them again 😈
That sluice programme really got me worried as I thought the control modules (all 3 of them) had some fault and the cost would be frightening!
The dump valve is a fansticly simple thing and does away with all pump and filter problems, it was just a bit worrying to open the filter flap and be confronted by, well nothing really.
