ParticipantHi All,
Hope you are well!! I have a Miele KF7542SN, while the fridge works fine the freezer has its moments.
while it maintains -18 the temp drops and then raises again. I have noticed the fan sometimes doesn’t kick in and sometimes it does, I have checked the gasket to the freezer door and it seems fine and it has some pull when I try and open the freezer door.
Anyone have any advice on what to do please? I really do not want to replace the fridge freezer 🙁

ParticipantHi,
Erratic problems are tricky enough even when we are there as an Engineer looking at it, if your issue is mainly the fan in the freezer at times not operating.
You have to confirm the unit has not just performed a defrost cycle and or that the unit has only just recently started to freeze down from its off cycle period.
The fan starts when the evaporator sensor has reached the correct temperature and the door is closed with the compressor running.
It is possible you can have issues with a weak compressor or a shortage of gas the later unlikely or an erratic sensor.
An Engineer would be required to confirm gas or weak compressor problems, but you could try changing the sensor which I believe is part number 4501970 from Miele.

Tony.Tony thanks for the reply! someone told me to do a full defrost of the fridge freezer for 3 days with both fridge freezer doors open – is this worth doing?
also I believe the sensor has a 3 week wait time, given the age etc what is your opinion on this?May 12, 2023 at 8:09 am #486827Tony R
ParticipantAlways worth giving a frost free fridge/freezer a good long defrost for 3-4 days as suggested, this helps eliminate any excess ice issues.
