ParticipantHi chaps. I’ve read the basics of Frost Free stuff 🙂
I have a KFN 8562 SD ed (probably! it may be 8762, or 8763 or 8962, no idea where the label is and it came with the house! The label is nowhere I can see. Followed all the clues. Nothing behind the salad drawer except a bit of spare salad)
The fridge has stopped being frost free over the last few days. I’ve done the sane amateur thing of turn off, defrost, wipe down and turn back on, and I have frost buildup on the back where I assume the element is.
It’s broken. I haven’t pulled it put from the wall and looked behind it yet. Before I do I hoped one of you would tell me if there’s any point or if Miele make impenetrable machines that only a second mortgage can fix when spent with a Miele engineer. I’m not wedded to the machine. If it’s likely to cost me more than a new machine then a new machine it is. It’s not urgent coz no-one yet died form a fridge that gets frost in it! I can turn it off and defrost it, after all.
Any tips for a bloke who doesn’t know one end of a multimeter form another (and doesn’t own one!)

Hello Edwin, sorry that you’re not H.A.P.P.Y with your fridge and so that you don’t go to WAR with it, I thought I’d make CONTACT to try and help.
Sorry 😳
The fridge will almost certainly be worth saving. That model will have been made by liebherr.
Depending on the frost pattern on the evaporator, it will more than likely be an evaporator sensor fault.
If the frost on the evaporator is just at the top and not even, then you would be unlucky and have a system fault, ie compressor or gas levels, but the sensor is much more likely.
This shouldn’t cost you the earth, certainly it will be a viable repair.Cheers.

The frost pattern is pretty even, so it looks like I just need to bite the bullet and find the right thingamijig! Thanks.
