Miele fridge freezer KFN8452SD making loud banging noises

My Miele fridge freezer is making loud banging noises. I’ve contacted Miele and they say that they have never come across this before. They have not been able to witness the noise as it occurs randomly a few times a day, so they say they cannot do anything about it and they say they don’t know what it is.

Has anyone else experienced loud banging noises from their fridge freezer?

This Miele (a frost free) also makes cracking and clicking noises. The clicking noises are explained in the manual, but overall it is very noisy with the bangs, cracks and clicks. The noises are very intrusive and seem to becoming worse with age. What are other fridge freezers like, do they also make these noises?

There can be banging from compressors when they are switched off,or the thermostat cycles them off.Usually a sign that the compressor is on it’s way out,mostly in ageing freezers.
R600a refrigerant,depending on the age if it is used is quite noisey but more gushing and gurgling.
Also expansion and contraction of panels especially on frost frees can give cracking sounds.

Thank you for your reply. The fridge freezer is less than 5yrs old, but I will ask Miele about the compressor.

Hi

My fridge/freezer also makes banging noises at random. The noise sounds just like a plastic bottle being crushed or having the air sucked out of it. It can be quite loud!

I have a Miele Fridge Freezer that has intermittently made weird noises (can only liken it to a softly trumpeting elephant!) since I bought it 18 months ago. I made numerous calls to customer services and had a service engineer round, but of course it never performed at the right time and no-one could explain why it was happening. In the end I resigned myself to living with it.

Then a couple of days ago, on a whim, I reduced the temperature setting to 3 degrees C – and then noticed the ‘trumpeting’ had stopped. Can’t tell you how happy that made me. So looking at the temperature setting might be worth a try.
