Miele G2872SCVi – Insufficient Salt

My dishwasher keeps saying Insufficient Salt after every cycle. But the salt reservoir (it’s in the door on this model) is topped right up.

Anyone got any ideas?

I’m quite mechanically / electrically minded, and don’t mind pulling things apart, but would prefer to have a clue there to go looking as I’m not great on how dishwashers sense a lack of salt.

I think you may be confusing the rinse aid which is in the door and not the salt container.

The salt container is in the base of the dishwasher. It has a large lid to unscrew as in the attached picture position 140.

Nope – on this particular model both the rinse aid and the salt are in the door, either side of the detergent release.

No worries we don’t see many Miele dishwashers let alone one without the usual salt sump 🙂

Have spoken with our local Miele engineer I do stand corrected the small sump is in the door, the salt mix is transferred down into the dishwasher by a small tube if he remembers correctly. Asking a little further he says “it’s not a DIY job as there are sensors etc involved.”

So it looks like it’s Miele time.
