Good evening all. I have a three year old Miele G5222SC dishwasher and the detergent dispenser lid that slides up to drop the detergent tablet into the machine has broken. Lid has come off. It’s the second time in two years it’s happened. First time was a warranty claim. But now it’s out of warranty and it’s down to me.

It seems there’s several different versions if the part, all of which are superceded except one. I suspect Miele have a problem with this part hence the several versions. It’s part number is 10505507.

I’m happy to buy one even at £108. But I can’t see how the dispenser is removed from the inner door. Presumably there’s a small wire or some thing that attaches inside the door and you have to remove the entire dispenser to see that. For the life of me, I can’t see how the dispenser itself comes off the door!

If anyone can shed light on that I’d be very grateful.

    Thanks.

Hazarding a guess, maybe 14 to 16 months ish since Miele changed the part.

I guessed there were screws inside the inner door securing the dispenser from the back. I see there’s a bunch of Torx screws holding the inner to the outer door. Am I likely to cause unintended problems if I carefully remove the Torx screws, pull away the inner door and change the dispenser myself? I’m a competent DIYer, retired engineer. But I have tended to leave this stuff to Miele.

However, if my experience is typical, there’s an issue with these dispensers being overly delicate. Hence I’m thinking of having a go at it myself. Thanks.

no you should be fine. the inner door will stay on and the outer cover will come off

just take your time, i dont think there is any wires to disconnect but it never hurts to take it slow

you could always write a letter to miele stating how dissappointed you are tha the same component has failed twice in 3 years. lay it on a bit thick like your mother had noe for years with no problems and you expected more out of the brand

They can only say no even if they discount the part it would be a win

Thanks Dave. That’s reassuring to hear. I’m expecting to see a solenoid or something which triggers the detergent to release. Should be obvious enough once I take a few Torx screws out, I think. Said solenoid probably unhooks off the detergent dispenser. I guess.

Actually, you know, I haven’t bought a white goods appliance in 40 years that hasn’t been Miele. The quality definitely isn’t what it was. (Actually, I lied. I buy Liebherr refrigeration because the similar thing from Miele always costs more!)

Thanks again for your interest. It’s appreciated.

there will be 2 wires to disconnect ( solenoid or activator and rinse aid level) the solenoid is part of the unit
