Miele G640 Type HG01 Premier – heater element stays on

Hi,

I have a problem with my Miele G640 – it looks like the heater element is always on whenever the machine is switched on – even when ‘STOP’ is selected. A consequence of this is that I think the heater element has warped to such an extent that the lower washer arm hits it as it rotates.

All this happened immediately after a routine refilling of salt – one other odd thing is that already (after 1 day) the machine is reporting no salt again!

Any help appreciated. This machine is 7 years old. I’ve never been in a dishwasher before but I’m not bad with washing machines so am prepared to look at few things before calling someone out if I had a few pointers.

Update: After draining excess water, setting the programme to “STOP” and switching on, the element comes on AND the machine starts to fill with water. Could this indicate a faulty controller?
