ParticipantThe customer reports that this dishwasher does not dry well. It progresses most of the way through the program, but during the final rinse, drains out and leaves the “End” light and “Start” light flashing continuously. The user manual says this indicates a technical fault requiring Miele Service. All the basic functions, ie filling, washing, heating, draining, working fine.
Does anyone know the procedure for accessing the service mode on this model and read the fault codes?

Poor drying results
Symptom
During the final rinse programme segment, no or insufficient rinse aid is
dispensed into the cabinet.
Cause
Incorrect rinse aid dispenser quantity selector setting in the combination
dispenser unit.
Remedy:
Check the rinse aid dispenser setting, see the appropriate operating
instructions.
Cause
Rinse aid dispenser flap not properly closed. The rinse aid container fills with
water during programme operation.
Remedy:
“Combination dispenser unit removal”,
Wash out contaminated rinse aid from the rinse aid container.
Refill with new rinse aid and close the flap properly.Cause
Rinse aid not released.
Remedy:
Remove the door outer panel.
Check the function of the solenoid (rinse aid compartment).
Check the solenoid and if necessary exchange it.
Check the voltage for the solenoid at the electronic unit.
If no voltage is present, exchange the electronic unit.May 12, 2014 at 11:17 pm #413465stratfordgirl

Thanks, Seamy, for the suggestion. The customer uses Finish all-in-one tablets, so I had pretty much discounted lack of rinse aid as the cause. She’s since run another cycle through and confirmed it runs the full program but is not hot at the end. I’ve already checked the heating circuit as far as I realistically can, so I’m plumping for an intermittent heater relay as the most likely cause.
It would be great if someone could post information on the service modes on these G6xx and G8xx series Miele dishwashers to enable the fault codes to be accessed, as I don’t think this has been shared anywhere on the forums so far.

Most of the service mode on them is acessed by connecting a laptop optically to the interface l.e.d (salt) which normally has PC beside it. In theory it can be done manually but its very difficult.
In service mode or customer/user mode you can make changes to rinse times, prolong the period it rinses for etc, not definite but think you can increase the temp’ too. This info should be in user instructions. If its fan assisted drying have a peek at that as they were problematic & water collected in fan preventing it to run & dry correctly.
Have some info on older machines if you want to PM me.May 13, 2014 at 7:25 pm #413467stratfordgirl

Thanks for the tips, Seamy. I’ve now established for sure it is an intermittent heating problem. I’ll report back on whether the new heater relay fixes it.

Just to confirm, I fitted the new heater relay yesterday and the problem is resolved.

I spoke too soon, the problem recurred and I eventually found the cause was a faulty temperature sensor, intermittently open circuit.
