    Hi guys

My Miele G646 has sprung a leak from the circulation pump.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy a pump (the motor is fine) and how much I’m likely to pay.

Even better is there a seal kit available?
I took the pump to bits and ran a smear of silicon around the two halves which has made it worse!! I’m thinking there must be a seal around the impeller shaft?

    Thanks

you need a partion kit. connect part number is 5045174343473. cannot put my finger on the proper part number at the mo.

Connect converts it to 5011740 which according to their picture is a Miele pump casing with seal.

    Thanks!

I’ve now ordered the parts so hopefully will get it working once they arrive.

I stripped the pump and there is a seal – a bit like a washing machine bearing seal only much smaller – that sits between the impeller and the rear pump casing.

The seal had a hole in it so convinced that was the problem.

Oh, and just in case it helps anyone else the impeller is screwed to the motor shaft and it’s a left handed thread. I jammed the motor with a screwdriver through the back into the fan and the impeller came off very easily.

    Thanks again

we know, thats pretty usual practice. The problem is they are sometimes not so easy to unscrew and manufacturers rarely make a screwdriver slot in the end of the rotor in order to lock the motor while unscrewing. What you describe as a “fan” is really very delicate alloy fins on the rotor, dont bend or break them! I have struggled with Miele impellors in the past as they are sometimes rusted on. The second part of the seal is formed by the carbon face on the impellor itself so make sure you fit that as well.
Its a nice job on a Miele and one you charge well for.

Thanks for the advice, it was actually a nice job to do but sadly I can’t charge for it as it’s my own machine!

New parts ar now fitted and I ran it through a full cycle with the side removed and the leak is cured.

Just got to fix the leak in my wallet now…Miele parts Pfffttt!!!
