ParticipantHi my 21year old Miele lost one of the programs recently so we used a different cycle. Last week it stopped and the inlet/outlet light illuminated. I replaced the timer unit thinking that was the issue, and it ran one complete cycle before retuning the inlet/outlet warning again.
I stripped the pumps and took everything apart and gave it all a thorough cleanup. The reservoir at the underside was full of rubbish. Thinking that was the cause, put it all back together and it ran to the begin of the first cold rinse, then stopped again with same inlet/outlet warning light.
I wondered if it was the pressure switch as every things appears to be working fine.
All help appreciated!thanks

ParticipantHi Dave
it drains then fills, and starts the wash/rinse cycle then stops about 30 seconds in from the sprinklers starting.
thanks for your response mate!

Moderatorlikely to be a fill fault as its not draining at that point
there is a water counter that counts the water in. its a small black item on the inlet pipe inside the machine. its job is to create pulses that can be counter by the computer to determine the amout of water entering the machine. the gen miele part is expensive but if you can find it first remove and repplace the connection in case its that. if you think its faulty and you can remove the small board i am hoping they will have used a reed switch which other makes do. If yes you can buy and replace these for a few pounds

ParticipantHi Dave
ive gone right through the machine and it doesn’t appear to have the counter you’ve suggested. The water inlet goes direct into the holding tank with solenoids at the supply end controlled within the machine itself.
the only likely suspect thing I can find is the pressure switch off the main impeller that goes to heating tube. Thanks mate

Moderatorif it has not got the counter it must have another water level pressure sw
the counter may be integrated into the holding tank as you call it
the one off the motor is just a heater safety stat

ParticipantHi Dave
no there’s nothing on the tank aside from a solenoid. I tried to send a photo but keep getting message not allowing to do so.
ive ordered a new pressure switch so will see if that does the job.thanks for you help Dave I’ll let know how it goes.

Moderatorif you want to add photos
host them on another site and post a public linkbeen through the only tec i have and is still talking about flow switches. It is for an American version as british manuals are nigh impossible to get so there may be differences
but there is only 2 ways of doing this. you either measure the water coming in or weight it so it has one or the otherDave
