ParticipantI’ve got a Miele which I’ve had for around 5 years, which appears to be stuck in the draining cycle – motor continually runs, and after a period of time flashes up a inlet/drain light.
Last time this happened (2 years ago) I stupidly called out a Miele engineer (still under warranty), and he diagnosed excess foaming in the drip-tray. As it was an owner induced fault I got charged £85 for this 2 min repair!
I’ve recently changed brands of tablets from Finish 4in1 to Fairy Liquid burst ones. Could this be a contributing factor (no salt or rinseaid has been added in months)?
Anyway, is emptying the drip-tray simply a case of unclipping the front kick panel, then removing the 2 screws shown under the door, and sliding forward. Anything I need to be careful of (apart from unplugging it first of course)?
TIA – Rufus.

I’m not familiar with this model but it’s well worth checking to see if the base has got water in there causing the flood protection to kick in.
A simple drain off may resolve it hopefully, I’ve not heard any undue reports of the Fairy tabs causing overfoaming but it is possible 🙂

Thanks Dave,
I’ll give it a go tonight, and will post again if it fixes, and/or the problem reoccurs.

Just a quick update – looks like it was the drip-tray. Mine had a few mms of water that felt a little soapy to the touch!
Brief instructions for accessing it (in case anyone has the same problem):
1) Unplug the dishwasher from the mains.
2) Remove the 2 plastic square (6×6″)covers either side of the machine at the bottom just behind the door. Pull lower half away from machine to clear lugs, then slide to clear clip at top.
3) Remove white kick panel under the door – grab at lower edge, and it should simply pop off.
4) Beneath the kick panel there should be a rectangular silver panel the length of the machine secured by 2 philips screws just behind the door. You’ll need a stubby screwdriver!
5) Once unscrewed raise the panel 1/2cm to clear the clips at the bottom, and it’s clear to remove.
6) The drip-tray is then clearly visible – remove any excess water (I used a sponge) and re-assemble the machine in reverse order being careful not to cut your fingers or get the soundproofing wedged!I’ll keep an eye on the machine over the next few weeks to see whether it’s a one off, or if a slow leak has formed!
