ParticipantWe have a 10 yr old Miele GT315ES chest freezer that has started beeping and flashing, at first intermittently but now more consistently. It’s similar noise to when the fast freeze button is pressed initially but the button hasn’t been pressed. The beeping noise is from the control panel on the handle. It is still freezing and keeping temperature OK. It is defrosted regularly and has only a minimal amount of ice currently. I’ve rung Miele and they weren’t very helpful and told me that all freezers make noises and that essentially as long as it works then leave it alone. But the beeping and flashing is now on for hours at a time and I guess at some time it will stop working? Has anybody any ideas on this?

Its possible its not keeping temp’ low enough, try putting a thermometer in it & see if its what it should be.
There may be a problem with a sensor for instance, some of there products will go into auto-pilot if theres a sensor faulty.
They will continue to operate but on a timed running rather than going by the sensors imput.November 13, 2013 at 10:10 pm #404427admin

Thank you for your replies. I’ve put a thermometer in and it’s reading -18 and it’s freezing fresh food quickly.
The serial number is 57754617 and the model is GT315ES
I can’t see/hear a sequence to the beeps, they are just: beep slight pause beep slight pause beep slight pause beep. It doesn’t beep all the time, sometimes it beeps all day and other days it just beeps for a few hours. Fortunately it’s in a utility room so we don’t have to listen to it all day long. The motor seems to kick in regardless of whether it is beeping or not.

This turned out to be a fault in the electronic control board, I found this http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=140715 on the web which gave some clues. Also noted that if it was above temp (eg -12) all was well, the beeping and flashing lights problem only arose when it hit -18. I decided that replacing the capacitors was a bit beyond my capabilities – if it had gone wrong then there was no way back. So I ordered a new board from Miele which arrived next day, was duly fitted and I now have a nice quiet freezer and saved myself the call out charge and it was much quicker than waiting for the engineer to visit.
