My fridge freezer is not not operating correctly. The fridge display temp display is set to 3C but the measured temp in the fridge is varing between 5 and 14. Yet when I power cycle the FF the correct temp is then displayed and the fridge cools down to 3C. Following this the measured temp in the fridge is then not controlled correctly rising to between 8 and 14 again. The displayed temp is always 3C while the measured fridge temp rises. A power off always resets the displayed temp to the correct measured temp. Initially I thought it could be a faulty the temp probe, but as it measures the correct temp following a power off/on I am now thinking this may not be the case. It also has 2 temp sensors one in the middle of the fridge and one in the cooler drawers in the lower part of the fridge. I am not sure which one the fridge uses when it displays the temp – one or both? The FF has 2 compressors, with the freezer working correctly.

    It all seems odd

This is the measured temperature in the fridge, while the measured temp changes the displayed temp in the fridge is remains displayed at 3C. The fridge must be using a different sensor to control the fridge, as the one used to for display temperature doesn’t change at all while the temperature in the fridge goes up and down.

Well the Miele man had look at it today. He pulled the top freezer drawer out and found it iced up on the rear panel in the freezer compartment. He thinks the door had been left open at some point which caused this to happen He thinks a good 24hr defrost should fix it. I didn’t realise even though it is dual compressors the fridge is not completely independent from the freezer. Fingers crossed it works.

Well it appears the manual defrost did solve the problem. I was sceptical beforehand bit the fridge has now settled down after first turning it back on. It didn’t like being turned back on with the ambient temperature being 32C. It seems to go through a cool down program cooling the freezer first. Then sorting out the fridge. It took a while for the temperature to settle. The fridge temperature is now being kept to within +/- 2C which seems good. I will continue to monitor it but it all looks good now. I must thank the Miele repairman who came out didn’t charge for the visit or advice. Top bloke.
