We have a Miele KFN29132D fridge/freezer that’s unfortunately just outside its warranty period. In the past couple of days it’s stopped cooling – the freezer compartment warmed up initially while the fridge stayed at least close to desired temperature, but it’s now clear there’s no cooling at all. There’s also no noise whatsoever from it (but lights/display work) which makes me think it’s the compressor, as I assume most other issues would at least involve the compressor trying to do something. Is there anything else I should consider, and is there anything an unskilled user can do to narrow it down?

On a general note, is there any advice on here about finding a reliable local repairer? I tried the repair search, which gave only one result but showed as “Recommended”, which at least sounds promising! I’ll call them on Monday in any case unless there’s better advice, but would like to be able to give a repairer as much info as possible.

    Thanks!

Hi, Try unplugging from the mains and leaving off for 15 mins and then plug it back in again, its possible the inverter may be malfunctioning and this may reboot it and get you going until it can be replaced.

Hi Tony, you’re right of course! Followed your instructions and the fridge at least is cool now, hopefully the freezer is on its way too. I assume this will probably happen again and that I should look to get the inverter replaced asap? It’s great to at least know what the problem seems to be, makes it easier to get it sorted. Thanks very much for your help!
