I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

just after Christmas, we had fitted a brand new Miele integrated microwave from a retailer, it is just a microwave and not a combination model. The model number is: M2240SC and the colour is obsidian black and the link to the model is below:

    https://www.miele.co.uk/e/built-in-microwave-oven-m-2240-sc-obsidian-black-11093910-p

Following installation, when opening or closing the door (some of way) you could clearly hear some resistance, by resistance I mean. the sound of the door rubbing/catching against something. When I looked closely at the bottom of the door, it appears that the bottom of the door is in contact with the bottom door hinge and therefore why I am hearing this noise.

shouldn’t there be a tinny gap between the bottom of the door and the bottom door hinge and therefore the door should be opening and closing a lot smoother?

pictures of the bottom door/bottom door hinge area and video of the door rubbing noise were provided to Miele. They examined them and they said that the microwave was defective. The microwave was replaced a few days ago with a brand new replacement (the same model) and exactly the same issue, you can hear the door rubbing/catching against something and once again I believe the bottom of the door is in contact with the bottom door hinge.

I spoke to Miele again and they said it was strange for the same issue to occur on 2 brand new microwaves and they offered to send an engineer to have a look, I’ve declined and so the Microwave is being replaced next week, so as it stands I’m onto the 3rd microwave.

if the same issue occurs yet again with the 3rd microwave, I don’t know what to do? I assume that the issue I am experiencing is definitely a fault as opposed to this being normal? If it is indeed a fault, Is this a common problem on this model of microwave? Is this a known issue with Miele microwaves? In which case, what should I say to Miele if the same issue occurs on the 3rd microwave ?

    thank you for any advice

short answer is I dont know

I also dont know who makes Miele microwaves at the moment but am fairly sure its not Miele

as with a lot of manufacturers they make only a few products and the rest are bought in. Their fridges for instance are Leibherr and they are first class

    ok thats interesting
saw one that was sharp built. the last one I saw had a door lock the same as one of the budget models

but if the door is as bad as you can it cant be up to the normal german engineering standard

So you think there is definitely an issue with the door?

cant say looking at the pic would need to see it
but from your description it sounds like the door needs to be lifted so it does not catch

I looked at the rating plate again. I was mistaken about being made in Germany. It says made in the UK

the problem with made in signs is it can be a bit of a loop hole. more like final assembly in the uk
