ParticipantI have a Miele Novatronic Washing Machine W827 date of purchase 2002. Its has been trouble free and never seen a repair man. However yesterday the wife reported that while it was washing a couple of heavy towels there was a very loud bang and the machine stopped with the rinses light flashing.
I have looked at it with the top removed but noting so obvious wrong. I can advise that it has power, the pump runs and the water fills but there is no motor action. When I reset the machine and select a wash cycle the machine behaves until the point it should turn the drum but then the rinses light starts to flash and nothing further happens. It would appear to me to be a motor or motor control fault.
I don’t yet know the source of the loud bang but guess the machine was out of balance with 2 big heavy wet towels and perhaps this caused it to stop working. If the bang was electrical I would have expected mcb to have tripped or fuse blown so I think it was not an electrical noise.
Is the most likely issue likely to be the motor brush set? Looking at the forum search this looks possible. Any other suggestions or guidance gratefully received

Update. I cracked open the casing and took out the brush box. Brushes look well worn, about 10mm of carbon left. I think the new brish would have about 30mm of carbon.
So is this likely to be the problem? how do I test the brushes or is it best to order a new set and see if it does the trick?

The loud bang was due to overloading the machine, and due to the age of the machine the shockers cant cope with the start of the spin cycle.
The drum pulley hits the rear casing, causing the motor to stall just enough to blow components on the board..You need
New brushes
New shocks
And the board repaired!PM me regarding the board repair..
Ive done around 30 this year alone..

ParticipantI just had the same problem yesterday with my W827 (about 20 years old)
I spoke to a repairman who said he had given up repairing Miele appliances due to difficulties dealing with the company. He also said that even if he carried out the repair Miele would have to reset the programme or the rinses light would continue flashing and the machine wouldn’t start?
So, I thought I’d try repair it myself! Can anyone advise where I can get the various replacement parts and roughly how much should they cost?
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

to repair the board you will need a relay and a fuse. and be able to solder. if your a novice be careful as you can damage the board trying to remove the relay.fuse https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/non-resettable-wire-ended-fuses/6119346/
relay https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/non-latching-relays/6803830/
got 2 identical repairs to do at the moment
if you cant do the board yourself there are a few people offering to repair them
