ParticipantHi folks
This post concerns a Miele novotronic premier 500 washing machine model number W504The problem is during its last wash it stuck on spin, rinse light flashing, water on the floor, clothes in machine hot and had black marks on them, loads of steam when the door was opened, soap suds still in drum.
I opened the flap and removed the filter. It was clear of debris, but lots of blue/grey water escaped.
When I now switch on the machine, it starts to spin and the rinse light flashes. No matter what buttons I press, including turning cycle to finish, it will not stop spinning.I’ve opened the casing and checked for leaks, but can’t see any. I’ve also removed the carbon brushes, and on inspection they seem to have lots of life in them. ie they are long, however the tips are a little bit rough as if a piece has been broke off. I’m talking tiny bit, not a chunk.
Anyone any ideas as to what the fault may be?
Regards Maurice

Morning Maurice, on the front of the tub at the bottom near the heater there is a pressure vessel, it may be gunged up/blocked. If you carefully take it off and wash it out it should help. Also check inlet solenoid valves for continuity of the coil, drain pump, drain hose for blockages.
Rinse flashing indicates a motor fault normally on a Miele washer.
The little chips off the edge of the brushes were likely caused when you were taking them off.
It may be sticking on heating if its getting really hot and steamy and that could point to a stuck relay, it may be that it only washed and did not get to rinsing with cold water though, can you remember what cycle it was on?
Worse case scenario is the P.C.B is faulty, motor control relays have been known to suffer from stuck contacts.January 29, 2014 at 8:59 pm #408595Girls hair

Many thanks Seamy for your prompt reply. I’ve very limited knowledge of washing machines, and if it wasn’t for the Internet , I wouldn’t even havnt gotten as far as I have in trying to diagnose the fault. I mean I couldn’t even have been able to work out how to take the front of the machine off, if it hadn’t been for YouTube. Any how I’m convined that all the hoses are free from obstruction, and that the carbon brushes are still good. When it comes to the P.C.B however, that’s when I have to call it quits and send for a washing machine engineer. Hopefully they will be able to tell exactly what’s wrong, then I’ll have to decide if it’s worth spending a lot of money on. Once again thanks for taking the time, to help out a stranger.
Regards Maurice
